I received many emails and compliments on my slide show
vision board.
(I want comments people, comments, not emails, but any kind of interest
is appreciated, because really… I used to think that I suffered from Attention
Deficit Disorder, thinking it meant I wasn’t getting enough attention…not that
I have much attention… what were we talking about again? Oh right, the slide
show vision board).
Some of you wanted to know if it was really that much work.
Does it matter, really? How much is it worth to you to attract the love of your
life? The job of your dreams? Money like water. Or an audi Q7? You've got to put some work in! If only half of my
vision board will manifest, it will have been worth every minute I put into it.
Besides, it was FUN to do. And bonus: I feel uplifted and excitement for the future when I watch
it.
What do you have to loose (besides the chance of a better life)?
So I made you a little tutorial:
1) Make a list
Scrabble down all the thoughts that come to you from the top of your mind. What
would you like more of in your life? Don’t be embarrassed. Most of us can use
more money; some of us are still looking for the love of their life, or a new
job, a fancier car, or may be you have always wanted to get a black belt in
karate. Start simple. Once you begin browsing for pictures, additional ideas
and thoughts and deeper desires will start popping up.
2) Find pictures.
I personally used “google images”, “flickr” and “corbis”. If you find a
picture that resonates with you, just right-click it with your mouse and save it
in a special folder on your desktop. Name it “vision board pictures” so you’ll
be able to find them all collected together later on. Gather as many as you
want.
If you generally like the picture, but some details don’t feel right (like: you
love the woman laying on the hammock in total bliss on the perfect beach, but
djeez… she’s a red head and you’re not!), just save the picture anyway. You can
fix this under number 3.
I collected over 500 pictures and I ended up using about 400 of them. I still
am glad I collected this many, because it gave me this sense of “choice” in the end... As
if I was really shopping for kitchens, houses and dream vacations.
On top of the pictures that you collect from the world wide web, I would also get
at least a few pictures of yourself. It helps to personalize your vision and to
make it all about YOU and your dream. Most of us have a digital camera and thus
you must have some nice pics of yourself on your hard disk. It doesn’t matter
if they’re ten years old (actually, I preferred the older pictures because I
looked so much better ten years ago J. If you’re on
Facebook, check out the albums in which you were tagged by friends and family.
Turns out my friends and family take more pictures of me than my husband or
kids do.
This surely was the most time consuming part of the process, but also the most fun.
Really, don’t let it scare you off. You will notice that you start of dreaming
small and modest and that you end up “daring” to step it up a little. First I
found a picture of an “okay” home, which I considered “within my reach”. But I
noticed it didn’t really make me feel as happy on the inside as the other
picture I found, of a house way bigger and obviously way more expensive. But it’s
my vision board, right? It really helped me to dream a little bigger.
Most of
us (especially women) are afraid to ask worse… afraid to ask for too much. That’s
just how we’re raised.
3) Crop and adjust
I have downloaded Picasa on my computer, which has great picture enhancement software.
It’s free. But you can find many other free cropping/ adjusting programs
online, most of them free.
I personally like to chop of the heads of every model. I can’t identify with
another person's face on top of the body that I (!) want. If I knew how to do photoshop,
I would have photoshopped my own head in all the pictures… honestly, I didn't want to spend the $99 for the software. It works fine for me with the chopped of heads for me.
4) Upload the pictures into a slideshow program
Put the pictures in the order you like. Play around with how fast you want the
slides to come by.
I use software from socusoft for $29.95 years ago. It is worth the investment, and not just for your vision
board. I made slideshows from our vacation pictures, for my father in law’s 80th
birthday, Christmas, etc.
5) Affirmations
If you like, you can add your favorite affirmations to give it extra intent. I get my affirmations from Stin Hanssen at www.mythoughtcoach.com but you can find affirmations all over the web, or in the old Louise Hay books that you can find for $1 and any thriftshop.
It
can be affirmations that you might not really believe yet, but what you would
like to see happen for yourself (for example: I have an affirmation on my vision board that
says “I am pretty, inside and out”. You really think I believe that? On most days I find myself just "okay", but I wouldn’t mind feeling a much better
about my looks).
6) Pick a tune that makes you happy.
Music really brings your mood (and vision board) in higher spirits! Need I say more?
(Note: if you want to upload your vision board to www.youtube.com you can not
just use any song because of the copyrights but they do offer copyright free
songs you can choose from with audioswap).
7) Upload your vision board to share with the world (or at least: with me)
I uploaded my vision board to youtube but as said under #6, they disabled the
music, so I also uploaded it on www.motionbox.com
8) Manifest!
Get all you want, just by watching your video every day!
